About Voice-Over for Toys

A toy will be played with for hours on end. A voice-over for toys will need to remain engaging after countless hours of use - so finding animated voices that can create a sound that keeps kids coming back is instrumental. Not to mention, limited memory storage for many toys means that any voice-over produced will need to be optimised for the toy medium's restrictions.

We have cast and recorded voice-overs for toys and electronic games made by some of the world’s top brands. Search for our experienced talents through our signature demo search toolbar. Listen directly to tagged samples, all relevant to your specifications - without all the inflated additions that come packaged with showreels.

Everyone loves toys! Embracing this fact is important to opening your project to countless international audiences. Our experienced voice-over talents speak in any language or accent to meet any demographic.

Learn more about our voice-over services for toys

Toys are a substantial business. It is an industry that keeps getting bigger, as toy sales reached over $90 Billion in 2019, a 15% increase since 2015. Needless to say, this is big business which is why it is important to ensure quality in your toy brand; the market is insanely competitive.

Audio quality and ownership rights are the biggest concerns to toy manufacturers. We know this through our extensive experience with recording voice-over audio for toys aimed at various ages. In terms of our voice talent, we vet and approve every voice we work with to ensure your end product remains professional and of high quality.

There is not a massive difference between voice-over for toys and any other project. The casting process is essentially the same.

However, the end product should sound more like this:

Rather than like this:

Recording for toys should be about quick bursts of short voice-over clips rather than a continuous stream of conversation. The speech clips are used to provide feedback, e.g. when a child pulls a string or presses a button to produce a sound effect.

Where things do differ from other projects is that toys typically have limited memory storage. The performance must work within strict audio parameters to make sure it isn’t too large a file for the product.

Recording concatenated speech in session is relatively straightforward; it only gets complex when script translation is also required. This is because the way the script is broken up will change completely in another language. It’s important to get this right, or the speech won’t make sense when the audio files are strung together. As we have teams of linguistic specialists on hand, we will ensure your audio is perfect in any language or accent!

It is also vital that the speech clips are consistent in quality across each file. (It could be jarring for one file to sound crisp and clear while another sound muffled!).

Fortunately, we only work with absolute professionals. We also offer the option to record in professional recording studios all over the world. So if you aren’t looking for an at-home recorder and would rather be present – we can set that up for you.

After the recording is complete, we can edit and deliver the audio in most file types or deliver the raw session file if preferred. If you have a contract or service level agreement for the voice talent to sign, we’ll also send this with the delivery.
