Research by visible measures shows that after just 10 seconds, 20% of the viewers have already clicked away. One fifth!
But the majority of the promo voice over audio we record here is longer, between 30 – 60 secs.
- At 30 secs about 1/3rd of viewers have left
- By 60 secs almost half are gone!
How can you keep a viewer engaged in your promo?
By answering a straight-forward questions for them.
Is this of benefit to me?
At any point the answer is” no”, they’re gone. Every second a viewer is watching your promo video, that question rings louder and louder in their ears.

People don’t have time to waste watching a promo that offers them no tangible benefit.
This is why a promo with a fun and entertaining story gets tons more views than the traditional ‘features and benefits’ promo. Even if the viewer isn’t a buyer, they may still like or share the content because it’s fun.
Keep it short, light-hearted with an emotive story and you’re already doing better than most.
