Morgan Freeman Voice-Over - Voquent

When it comes to voice-over, Morgan Freeman is the voice of God.

He quite literally, played God in the movies Bruce Almighty (2003), and Evan Almighty (2007). So it’s not surprising that with such a legendary vocal sound, he has lent his talents to countless feature films, documentaries, advertisements, and even apps.

Who is Morgan Freeman? Why is his voice so incredible? How much does his narration cost? And are there any sound-a-likes out there?

Let’s answer all of these questions and discover the sound-a-like voices that might just provide something extra.

Quick Menu

Who is Morgan Freeman?

Morgan Freeman is an exceptionally successful actor, narrator, and director from Memphis, Tennessee. Freeman is known for two main reasons: His long list of iconic film roles and his indelible voice.

His career took off in 1987 with his part in Street Smart, which gained him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards. He was then nominated as Best Actor two years later for Driving Miss Daisy. Since then, he has appeared in many high-profile films such as The Shawshank Redemption, Invictus, Se7en, and The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Freeman also co-founded his own production company, Revelations Entertainment, in 1997 and directed Bopha! In 1993 before also directing three episodes of Madame Secretary between 2015-2017.

Why is his voice sought after?

Ultimately, when you think of Morgan Freeman, you think about his distinctive voice. Deep, reassuring, and authoritative, Freeman is no stranger to voice acting in film. His deep and commanding voice also makes him a regular voice of God narrator in documentaries. This is because he can fully control the audience’s attention whilst leading the viewer through a story with compelling passion.

Interestingly, Morgan Freeman’s voice-over didn’t always sound this way. When studying acting, Freeman discovered in speech class that most people speak too fast and too high. He then decided to create what is now his iconic voice by speaking an octave lower and fully enunciating each word. So, if this iconic voice didn’t come naturally to Morgan Freeman, then maybe anyone can recreate his distinctive style.

Wouldn’t everything be much more interesting if it included a Morgan Freeman voice-over?

Morgan Freeman Voice-Over Cost

Morgan Freeman is worth an estimated $250 million and is one of the most popular voices in Hollywood. But how much does he make per role?

It is important to remember that at this point in his career, attaching Morgan Freeman’s name and experience to a project is worth a lot more than just the voice-over he supplies. It has been estimated that including Freeman in your project is worth $5 to $10 million.

The earnings of Hollywood’s top actors per movie are generally only speculated as this information is rarely given out. What we can break down however is how much Morgan Freeman made in specific years and what films he appeared in at that time to give us a rough idea of how much he makes per role.

In 2012, he is estimated to have made $12 million. In this year he will have been paid for both Dolphin Tale and Conan the Barbarian. Therefore, he likely made around $6 million for each of these roles.

In 2013, Freeman made $30 million and was paid for The Magic of Belle Isle, The Dark Knight Rises, Now You See Me, Olympus Has Fallen, and Oblivion. Probably earning him around $6 million per role again.

However, It is not known how much Freeman was paid for The Shawshank Redemption. On this film’s release, it was met with a modest income of $18 million. Due to the critical acclaim the film later received, it is now in joint first place for the most television re-runs with Scarface. The film was also the most rented movie of 1995, back in the days of Blockbuster.

10 years after the film’s release, the main actors were still making close to six figures in residual payments, and it is expected that Shawshank still generates a considerable income for those involved due to its longevity. So, Morgan Freeman’s performance and voice-over also earn him money over time.
