Waitrose is a British supermarket chain with over 350 stores across the country. The company is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all its contractors, including migrant fishermen.
In partnership with The Seafarers' Charity, Waitrose commissioned Lark Rise Pictures to create a series of films to help migrant fishermen understand their rights and responsibilities in the UK. The films were translated into nine languages: Tagalog, Sinhala, Tamil, Hindi, Latvian, Fante, Bahasa (Indonesian), Cebuano Bisaya, and Akan Twi (Ghana).
Voquent was selected to cast the voice-over talent for the dubbing project. We cast two voices per language and worked closely with Lark Rise Pictures to ensure that the recordings were synchronized with the picture. This proved challenging in some languages, and we had to adapt and review the scripts several times.
The films were well-received by the end client and will be distributed across Waitrose's social media platforms and designated apps.
