God of War Voice Actors

Learn more about Sony Santa Monica's Nordic action epic and its voice actors

The reboot of the PlayStation classic series, God of War, is one of the elite releases in the Playstation first-party catalogue.

After the destruction of the Greek Pantheon of Gods, Kratos has left Greece to pursue a peaceful life in Norway. With the Death of his wife, Faye, he and his son must reach the highest peak in the lands and spread her ashes.

However, the Norse Gods of legend have a bone to pick with the Ghost of Sparta. They will try to stop Kratos and his son, Atreus, from completing their mission.

The two can only succeed if they work together. The boy must learn to unlock his potential. Kratos must accept his past and return to his mantle as the God of War

Kratos, The God of War, is a God from the Greek Pantheon. He started as a simple Spartan Commander, who earned his powers for battle from the former God of War, Ares – at a cost. Kratos was enslaved by the God of War, tricked into killing his own family, with their ashes forever burned into his skin – earning him his signature ashen appearance and title “Ghost of Sparta”.

Kratos gained revenge against Ares and the title of God of War. His wrath would eventually be aimed at the entire pantheon of Greek Gods. After the death of his father Zeus, the Greek world fell to ruin.

Kratos now lives among Nordic Gods, with his son Atreus, ready to begin his quest to spread the ashes of his late wife, Faye.

Christopher Judge is an established actor who has been part of various big-name franchises. Before becoming the Kratos voice actor, his premier role was as Teal’c in Stargate SG-1. A major sci-fi role that propelled him into the public eye.

As the God of War voice actor, he takes over from Terrence Connor Carson, who previously helmed the role of the Kratos voice actor.

Atreus (Sunny Suljic)

Atreus, the son of Kratos and Faye. He has much to learn and much to mourn. Atreus and his father do not have an exceptionally loving relationship, as Kratos has been noticeably absent through his childhood.

Raised primarily by his mother, Atreus is ready to spread his mother’s ashes as her final wish. He is a character prepared to grow, unlock his power and grow closer to his father, whose history remains shrouded to the boy.

Sunny Suljic is the youngest God of War voice actor. As a result, he does not have a particularly strong portfolio of roles, with God of War and the role of Atreus voice actor being his first significant performance, in gaming and otherwise.

Freya, a woman of nature with a mysterious past. Living inside of a giant turtle, Freya is one with the natural world, using her magic to alter it around her.

Freya shows up to help Atreus and Kratos on their journey. She offers them assistance, gear and advice when needed.

She is not what she seems.

Daniella Bisutti has worked as part of various projects in her back catalogue. While she has had a minor presence in films, she has been in a multitude of television drama programmes.

Her work as a God of War voice actor is her only current video game credit to date, which is an incredible first step in her voice acting career.

A God, the half-brother of Thor and the son of the All-father, Odin. Baldur has come looking for Kratos, tracking him to his small home.

Why? It is a mystery. He is deadly, competent and fast – a worthy adversary for the weary Spartan God.

Prophecy tells that Baldur’s death will cause the beginning of Ragnarok – the end times. As such, Baldur is provided with eternal life, the inability to be harmed by his mother Frigga, a Vanir Goddess. Although, perhaps eternal life is not as great a deal as it sounds…

Jeremy Davies has been included in numerous high profile projects in the past. He performed as Corporal Upham in the seminal Saving Private Ryan, as well as Jimmy David Lynch’s TV show Twin Peaks.

His work as a God of War voice actor is his only outing in gaming media. He brings the necessary aggression and unconventional attitude to the Baldur character.

Magni (Troy Baker)

The Eldest son of Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, Magni, is a brute with some capacity to summon lightning passed from his father.

A minor God with immense size and strength. Along with his uncle and brother, Baldur and Modi, he is hunting Kratos.

Troy Baker is very well established among gaming voice actors. There are few people who can command the same level of experience as Baker in this media space.

Voice acting is his bread and butter, in anime and games. So choosing him to be a God of War voice actor was a surefire way to guarantee professionalism and quality.

Modi (Nolan North)

The younger brother of Magni, and the less favoured son of Thor. Modi harbours resentment for his Father and Brother, befitting of the black sheep.

He also embodies some of Thor’s strength and power. He joins Baldur and Magni in hunting the Ghost of Sparta.

Nolan North is the voice actor that representing video games. He may be the most prolific voice actor in the industry, and he shows up in practically everything.

No doubt pairing him up with Troy Baker, as brothers, was an in-joke for people who are aware of the two performer’s reputation for appearing in media. Regardless, they both bring their incredible experience to bear as God of War voice actors.

Mimir (Alastair Duncan)

“The Smartest Man Alive!” Advisor to Aesir and Vanir alike, Mimir once rubbed shoulders with the most powerful beings in the Nordic realm. However, after various failures in the service of Odin and his support of the Giants – Odin ordered Mimir punished.

Mimir was locked in a tree, indestructible to even the mighty Thor. For 109 winters he has remained, tortured by Odin constantly.

Alastair Duncan is a proficient voice acting professional, with various instances of work across film, TV, and video games. Duncan has a great range of roles under his belt, cartoons, drama, serial programmes, and NPCs.

In video games media specifically, besides Mimir, Duncan has had some supporting roles in Mass Effect, and has been included as the main antagonist of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

He is no stranger to voice work.

A twitchy dwarf, he is currently flying solo after disagreements with his brother caused a rift in their partnership.

Another actor with experience in Stargate SG-1! Adam J. Harrington has found work in a multitude of big TV shows, including CSI and NCIS.

Harrington performed as detective companion Roy Earle in Rockstar published game, L.A. Noire, where voice acting is concerned. This also included motion capture!
