Only the Avatar, master of all four elements could stop them but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed, and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar: an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he’s ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.”

Avatar the Last Airbender is an American animated series produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Inspired by anime, the show follows Aang, the most recent Avatar, who has been frozen in ice for 100 years. He now must use his status as the Avatar and his ability to bend all four elements to bring the four nations together and serve as the bridge between the physical world and the spirit world.

Can Avatar Aang end the 100-year war and stop the Fire Nation before they ruin the world’s balance?

Aang (安昂) is the main protagonist of Avatar the Last Airbender. He was originally born in 12 BG, frozen, and awoke 100 years later to find his people wiped out. His purpose then became to defeat the Fire Lord and rekindle his lost society.

Aang is a somewhat naïve person due to his young age when frozen and he is a pacifist by nature. He tries to avoid conflict and violence at all costs, refuses to eat meat, and gives off a generally Carefree aura.

Aang is played by Avatar the Last Airbender voice actor: Zack Tyler Eisen. Zack is an American-born voice actor whose career started in 1999. Out with the Avatar T.V. show, he is best known for his roles in The Ant Bully and The Backyardigans. Within the Avatar franchise, he is known for also voicing Aang in Avatar the Last Airbender – The Legend of Aang (video game) and Avatar The Last Airbender – The Burning Earth (video game).

Katara (Mae Whitman)

Katara (卡塔拉) is one of the main protagonists in Avatar the Last Airbender. She is a Southern Water Tribe member born to Chief Hakoda (her father) and Kya (her mother). Due to conflict, Katara was left as the only waterbender in the Southern Water Tribe. After finding and forming a friendship with Aang, she aided his journey to defeat the Fire Nation and later became his wife.

She is a compassionate, motherly figure to those around her and is very protective of the people that she loves. She is also the most mature member of Team Avatar, keeping her friends safe however she can.

Katara is played by the American-born actress Mae Whitman. Mae is based in Los Angeles, California, where she has landed many acting roles since her first at only six years old. Since her career started in 1994, Mae has been known for her roles in The Perks of Being a WallflowerOne Fine DayHope Floats, and The DUFF.

Sokka (索卡) is another main character and protagonist in Avatar the Last Airbender. He is a Southern Water Tribe member, brother to Katara and is the only male left in his Tribe after the rest sailed off to battle.

Sokka often irritates those around him but is keenly sharp-witted. Due to his inability to bend an element, unlike his counterparts, he shows signs of envy for Aang and Katara. He later begins to master the art of sword fighting and also proves his ability to be a leader.

Sokka is played by the actor and voice actor Jack De Sena. Jack is a Boston native-born in 1987 and started his acting career in 2004 with the T.V. series Grounded for Life. Out with being an Avatar the Last Airbender voice actor, Jack is known for his roles in The Dragon PrinceAll That, and 100 Things to Do Before High School. Aside from acting, Jack is a writer and has had a few writing credits since his debut in 2008 with Dorm Life.

Momo is a winged lemur who lived at the Southern Air Temple. Unfortunately, he was the only one remaining of his species after the Nomad Genocide. Aang, Katara and Sokka found Momo still residing in the air temple. After a debate on whether they should eat him or keep him as a pet, Momo stole a moon peach from Sokka, resulting in the name and his introduction to Team Avatar.

Appa (阿柏) is a sky bison that formed and shared a strong emotional bond with Avatar Aang. He remained extremely loyal to Aang because of this. In addition, Appa was known for his ability to fly and airbend, despite his bulky appearance and apparent weight. His ability to fly also made Appa a primary source of transportation for Aang and Team Avatar.

The characters of Momo & Appa were played by Dee Bradley Baker, an American actor and voice actor who has an incredible ability to voice animals and creatures. As an Avatar the Last Airbender voice actor, Dee creates the sounds of every animal in the show. Dee has had roles in many different shows, including American Dad!Phineas and FerbThe SpongeBob SquarePants MovieFamily GuyBen 10Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and more recently Star Wars: The Bad Batch. In total, Dee has hundreds of acting credits accumulated during his career that started in 1992.

Prince Zuko (祖寇 蘇科) is the primary antagonist in Avatar the Last Airbender, and main rival to Aang. Zuko is a master firebender and was born into the Fire Nation’s Royal Family. He is the son of Lord Ozai, who banished him after a misunderstanding about respect. This fuelled Zuko’s motives to capture Aang and win his father’s respect and affection.

Zuko is a bitter, hot-headed person with an intense ego, viewing those around him as inferior. However, he has been known to be empathetic towards people, even saving Aang on occasion.

Prince Zuko is played by the American-born actor Dante Basco. He was born in 1975 and began his acting career in 1988 with The Wonder Years. He has since acted in various roles, with his most notable being in HookBut I’m a CheerleaderHang Loose, and Blood and Bone. He has also had other voice acting roles, such as Jai Kell in Star Wars: Rebels and Shingo in Skate 3.

Toph Beifong (北方拓芙) is a supporting character and a friend of Team Avatar. Whilst being completely blind since birth, she is an exceptionally talented earthbender and is the only known person that can bend metal until The Legend of Korra. As such, she founded the art of Metal bending as a part of the earthbending skill.

Overall, Toph has a somewhat confrontational and independent personality, is often sarcastic, and can be stubborn. When it comes to interpersonal interactions, she has a direct way of speaking, which can sometimes come off as abrupt or rude.

Toph was voiced by the actress Michaela Jill Murphey, also known as Jessie Flower. She was born in Indiana in 1994 but was raised on the West Coast of the United States. Her career began in 2005 with a role in Kronk’s New Groove. She is better known for her roles in Meet the RobinsonsStalgiaNight at the Museum, and Finding Nemo.

Iroh (艾洛) (aka, Uncle Iroh, General Iroh) is a supporting character. Iroh is an elderly Fire Nation resident who was formerly a Fire Nation General, Crown Prince, and Grand Lotus. He is a firebending master, brother to Lord Ozai and Uncle to Prince Zuko.

While he is a firebender, and his family are hell-bent on destroying Aang, Iroh has been seen helping the Avatar. This eventually got him branded as a traitor by the Fire Nation. He is a wise, open-minded, spiritual person and is known to be very perceptive.

Iroh was played by the Japanese-American voice actor, Makoto Iwamatsu, otherwise known as Mako. He was born in the Empire of Japan in 1933, grew up during World War Two, and finally moved to be with his family in America after the war. His acting career began in 1962 and he was known for Conan the BarbarianPearl HarborThe Sand Pebbles, and Bulletproof Monk.

Azula is a supporting, antagonistic character in Avatar the Last Airbender. She was the princess of the Fire Nation, sister to Zuko, niece of Iroh, and daughter of Lord Ozai.

She is a firebending master known for being power-hungry, sadistic, and particularly manipulative to those around her. Being a narcissist, Azula only gives aid to people if there is some kind of personal gain involved. As a prodigy, she strives for self-perfection in all that she does. She is distinctly known to have a lack of empathy and kindness.

Azula was played by the California native Grey Griffin. Grey is a well-known voice actor and singer who was born in 1973 and began acting in 1989. To date, she has a staggering list of credits and has played roles in an extraordinary number of projects. Other than being an Avatar the Last Airbender voice actor, she is best known for her roles in Batman: Arkham CityTransformers: Revenge of the FallenBumblebee, and Injustice: Gods Among Us. She has also been in The SimpsonsStar Wars: The Bad Batch, and The Powerpuff Girls.

Hadoka is a supporting character and protagonist in Avatar the Last Airbender. He was originally a Southern Water Tribe Chieftain before he left to fight the Fire Nation. Hadoka is the father of Sokka and Katara, husband to Kya, and served as a significant leader in the Water Tribes of the South before and after the war.

He is known as a loving father with a brave demeanour, not being afraid to fight for what he held dear. He is a particularly strong-willed character that proved to be a skilled warrior.

Hadoka is played by the New York actor and voice actor André Sogliuzzo. André is a New York native, born in 1966. His career as an actor started in 1994 with an uncredited role in Iron Will. He has since landed roles in hundreds of different projects, with his most prominent roles being in You’ve Got MailTransformers: Revenge of the FallenThe Polar Express, and Proof of Life.

In Avatar the Last Airbender, Mai is a supporting character and an antagonist. She is the daughter and eldest child of Ukano and became one of Princess Azula’s greatest allies in the Hundred Years’ war. This subsequently made her one of Team Avatar’s most formidable enemies. She is also the primary love interest of Prince Zuko.

Mai is a moody person with a rather gloomy aura. So much so that she is often described as stoic with certain innate darkness to her nature. That being said, she particularly cares for the people she loves.

Mai is played by the actress Cricket Leigh. Cricket was born in Michigan but was raised in Chicago from a young age. She graduated in New York, then started her acting career in Los Angeles in 1996 with a role in Mama Medea. Her most notable roles out with Avatar the Last Airbender are roles in Red Faction II, Celebrity Deathmatch, and Cars Mater-National. She has also been involved in video games, specifically Saints Row 2, Avatar the Last Airbender – The Burning Earth, Need For Speed Underground 2, and Shaun White Snowboarding.

Suki is an Earthbender from the Earth Kingdom’s Kyoshi Island, where she also serves as the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors. She assisted Aang and the other benders in battling against the Fire Nation to bring the Hundred Years War to an end.

From a young age, Suki was known for her combat prowess and her leadership skills. She is an assertive, actionable person who isn’t afraid to make her opinions heard as well as being incredibly loyal and kind.

Suki is voiced by the actress Jennie Kwan. Jennie is a Los Angeles native and was born there in 1973, where she later started her acting career in 1991. Since her first role in Little Shop, her most notable roles have been in .hack//G.U. Last RecodeEntourageRaya and the Last Dragon, and When They Cry. She has also had roles in Red Dead Redemption II and Anger Management.

Ty Lee is a supporting character in Avatar the Last Airbender and is primarily an antagonistic character, despite helping Aang and Team Avatar later in the story. Ty Lee is a Fire Nation resident and the daughter of a Fire Nation noble. She is friends with both Princess Azula and Mai but opted to join the Fire Nation’s circus as opposed to becoming a warrior. However, she was very skilled in combat and Chi blocking.

She is a bubbly, kind person at heart who proves to be very energetic. She is seen as Azula’s and Mia’s opposite, personality-wise.

Ty Lee is played by Olivia Hack, born in Beverly Hills in 1983. Her acting career began in 1992 in the T.V. movie P.J. Sparkles and her most notable acting performances have been in The Brady Bunch MovieAvatar the Last Airbender – Into the InfernoGilmore Girls, and Hey Arnold The Jungle Movie. She has also had roles in Star Wars: The Clone WarsFamily Guy, and Bob the Builder.
