Hi! My Name is Daniel.
I was born a long time ago in 1986 in the land of Chicago USA. It does not seem so long ago…
Anyway, at seven years old my family moved to Croatia to the village Kamanje. It was about 20 klicks from the war zone at the city of Karlovac. A tricky time to move to the old country by my parents who were political and economic refugees from Yugoslavia. Why do I write this? Because that was about the time a started to develop the passion and skillset that I use today. Bilingual at an early age, many Croatian dialects and Slovenian television programs gave birth to my interest in language, expression, speech, singing, voice and sound impressions. I had a lot of support in developing my skillset so I become a show maker and an ideal candidate for voiceover.
But of course, not everything was easy. First I studied law in Zagreb and got to the fourth year when suddenly the legal literature had to be substituted for something completely different. After competing in the television show “Croatia is looking for a star” (2011.) I had a strong calling to revert to my natural talent. I had the choice of continuing investing extraordinary effort to become an average lawyer, or I can follow my talent and shape it in an awesome skillset that will enrich the Croatian showbiz and voiceover.
Just three weeks after my first casting in cartoons I got one of the leading rolls in SpongeBob SquearPants as Squidward and had the unbelievable honor of singing the intro song. Eventually I took on the legendary roll of SpongeBob.
When I was a kid I remember driving in my parent’s car and hearing the voice guy on the radio say “Open radio!” and I was like…. I can totally do that! Lo and behold in spring 2012. I got the job doing just that! Station voice at Open radio. Coincidentally, the same week I auditioned as the new vocalist of the new popular pop rock band Radio Luksemburg.
Today my voice can be heard in countless commercials in Croatian and English, also almost every single cartoon in Croatian. The only logical move was to open my own company “Voiceact” in 2018.
I’m always on the lookout for new projects to bring freshness to my work and quality to the market. From a vocal impersonation of Marvin Gaye in an insurance commercial to on the first glance boring corporate voice narrations, from back vocals in “Lego movie 2” to sound design of computer and mobile games. I find pleasure in subtleties that an average listener is not aware of, but will certainly make a meaningful difference.
