A classically trained, Shakespeare-weaned actress at The Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art ’84 – ’87. My career has spanned voiceover, theatre, International film, TV and also a (shortish) career in music – I was a ‘disco-house diva’ under the pseudonym of ‘Sugar Holmz’ for a while back there! Yes, I know – what can I say? – all part of life’s rich tapestry…. 🙂
For me, it’s always been about ‘Voice’.
Taking time out in recent years to raise our two boys here in Kent has been a dream-job, surrounded and inspired by our beautiful English countryside. It’s here I developed my jazz-blues quintet called, rather imaginatively I thought – ‘The Sarah Ward Quintet’ and I also still perform in local theatre, film shorts and occasionally radio.
Now, with my boys rapidly growing up and me a little (ok a lot) older I am excited to discover that over the years my voice has matured and developed and suddenly getting older isn’t a negative – WOW! I’m truly thrilled to be back doing voiceover – it’s the work I love most.
Capabilities and strengths:
My professional experience spans most areas of voiceover work, including commercials, radio and TV promos, corporate videos, explainers, e-learning and technical. I’m good at getting my chops around those difficult technical phrases!
I really enjoy radio drama and character work. Narration and audio books? – love ‘em! ‘On-hold’ and IVR? – no problem, and documentaries are wonderfully rewarding to work on. In fact let’s be honest, I’m not fussy – I love it all!
People have described my voice as warm, inviting, engaging, friendly, clear, classy, energetic, sexy (I can be – coy smile) sultry, velvety, authoritative, assured. Hopefully I’m all of those things and more.
So – if you need anything voicing, whatever it may be – with speed, professionalism, sensitivity and acuity, please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
